Happy Birthday, Karl Blog.com!

Exactly one year ago today, I officially launched this blog...

I was in the spiritual heartland of Arizona -- Sedona -- and wrote all about the idea of "problems" being simply limiting thoughts.

You can read that very first post here...

http://www.karlblog.com/blog/2006/10/quest-to-know-oneself.html

I never really intended for this to become a daily blog (and recently, it hasn't been!), but this near-journalling has been a real journey for me -- and I'm sure that I've learned more than I could've ever imagined.

So... Today, October 3rd, I dedicated to this blog.

Through it's trials and tribulations, through it's insights and idiocy, through it's daily posts and dead air....

A Non-Egotistical Happy Birthday, Karl Blog.com :)

Birthday Party Pictures!

As some of you know, it was my birthday at the end of last month! :)

I had a great little meal in the city, with around twenty of my best friends. Here are a few quick snapshots...

Karl's Birthday Party

It's my birthday? It's my BIRTHDAY! :O

And as Plautus said: "Let us celebrate the occasion with wine and sweet words" ....

Karl's Birthday Party

It's a surprise birthday party! Yay!

You can't see them, however my sister scattered pictures of me as a naked child all over the table. It was... embarassing.

And, yes, I'm the only one not looking at the camera there. My head obscures about ten people.

Karl's Birthday Party

A few of my good friends -- the fab Rachel, Denice, Maree Lee.

Karl's Birthday Party

More great friends: Richard the Dance Meister, Vanessa, Me!

Talking of dancing: after the meal, we all headed out to the cheesiest disco in town to show that -- despite advancing age -- we're still full of spunk!

Karl's Birthday Party

Me and Mark Robertson (son of agony aunt, Denise Robertson) -- after much dancing!

Of course, the celebrations didn't stop there...

Just a day earlier, I'd been dining with my parents -- who had much fun circumnavigating a Chinese meal! :)

Karl's Birthday Party

Always laughing and smiling :)

Karl's Birthday Party

And of course me and my sister -- totally and utterly stuffed, I hasten to add!

That's all for today.... :)

Enjoy, and HAPPY TUESDAY!

Happy Birthday, Self Dev Radio!

If you're reading this blog, it's likely that you enjoy receiving a little inspiration in your inbox each day.

Well, why not receive it in your ears instead? ;)

Each day, you can hear me broadcasting live interviews online at Self Dev Radio. With guests from Hale Dwoskin to Joe Vitale, Ross Jeffries to Chris Westra -- tune in to hear me quizzing big names in the self help industry, and often receiving unexpected answers!

(PS. Coming up in the next few days... interviews with "Adam Dream Healer" and Gun Finley. And the truth is out: I officially don't like Ross Jeffries.)

So if you haven't tuned in recently, check it out online at:

If you're into the world of writing too, you can tune into Writers FM to hear me interview some fantastic authors - from Edwina Currie to Charles Dicken's great-great-great-grandaughter.

Listen in online at:

Both stations completely free of charge, and have recently received an "ear-lift," so they now sound better than ever before.

And most important of all... both Self Dev Radio and Writers FM are exactly one year old today.

So come along and celebrate online! :)

Happy Birthday, Writers Circle!

Today, I'm extending my birthday wishes to a very special site...

It's a community I founded exactly one year ago, to help writers from across the globe connect and share their knowledge.

It's called My Writers Circle and since launching December '05, it has accumulated a stunning 51,000 posts and almost 2700 members.

And if you're interested in the My Writers Circle statistics...

The most users online was 44 on March 14th 2006. The user that has spent the longest time online is writing is hard, with over 25 days SOLID using the forum. PaulW is our top poster, having posted over 1800 messages - while Lin Treadgold is our big topic starter, having initiated over 210 conversations online!

The Coffee Shop is the busiest forum of them all, and September was the busiest month -- which over 7600 new posts made on the site.

Wowee kazowee!

My big thanks go out to forum head honcho Nick Daws, and global moderators Aelfwin, Carrie, Cathy, Jillanne, Lin and Symphony (in alphabetical order).

If you're interested in self-development, you might also be interested in stopping by the Self-Development Forum, another site I setup back in December '05. While not quite as bustling as My Writers Circle, it does have over 530 members -- and it's a great place to connect with others on their own self-help journey.

What a fantastic year it's been for these communities...

And so, dearest sites... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Penblwydd Hapus, Mark...

In today's post, I'd like to wish one of my good friends a very happy birthday.

He's Mr Mark Sandler, and you can visit his own personal website online at http://www.marksandler.com/

I've known Mark now for well over 10 years, and we've just returned from celebrating his 35 years on this planet -- by stepping out into Cardiff for the biggest slap-up Italian meal you've ever seen.

And here's the post-pudding proof:

Mark's Birthday Party

From left to right, we have Rob, birthday boy Mark Sandler, myself, Karl Moore, and Matthew. Who is looking suspiciously like Coronation Street's Kirk Sutherland.

A fantastic time was had by all -- including extra party-goers Richard, his American lady Catherine, Bridget and Rob's wife Ruth.

Make sure you check out Mark's website. He's a great radio producer and even a part-time web designer!

It's November 13th, and so... MANY HAPPY RETURNS, MARK!

(PS. Mark was born in Wales, and now lives in Cardiff. "Penblwydd Hapus" is Welsh for "Happy Birthday." It's pronounced "pen-blwid hap-iss!")

Happy Birthday, Angela...

Birthday wishes go out to Angela Lansbury today, who today reaches the ripe age of 81 years.

Now if you've never been exposed to Angela's talents, I strongly suggest you head straight to your nearest movie store and rent "Death on the Nile" (if indeed they still have it!).

This 1978 production, which received mere mediocre reviews, is one of my top three films.

It features Angela's brother-in-law, Peter Ustinov... Bette Davis... Mia Farrow... David Niven... Maggie Smith... Jack Warden... and a whole bundle of other big Hollywood names. And it has a mass of underlying humour that you can really only understand once you've watched the film around ten times.

Thankfully, I'm on my 578th playing, so by now, it's nothing short of hillarious.

But you don't need to hire a DVD to figure Angela's talents.

Most of us have already been exposed to her motherly manner, typically when ill and bed-ridden, forced to watch mid-afternoon "Murder, She Wrote" repeats.

But you know something?

In my eyes, Angela Lansbury is one of the few remaining true Broadway and television stars -- and today, as she celebrates the grand age of 81 years, she's still going strong.

So, raise a glass with me.

Happy birthday Angela!
